Psychopharmacological treatment in child and adolescent psychiatry in Germany: off-label and licensed use
The psychopharmacological treatment of children and adolescents in Germany is often restricted due to a limited scope of studies in this field. The review aims to characterize the state-of-the-art of licensed psychotropic substances for children and adolescents. In comparison to adults, there is still a limited spectrum of psychopharmacological treatment options, which may have a negative impact on evidence-based treatment. Furthermore social law legislation may pose a risk for service provider for receiving reimbursement, when administering psychotropic medication off-label.
